February 27, 2011 -- 18th Annual Chili Cookoff--Muy Bueno!
| Public Resources - Events |
A great time was had by all who attended the 18th Annual Chili Cookoff at The Retreat Grill and Sports Tavern. There were both red and green chilies entered in the contest. The top three winners in each chili category won cash prizes and more importantly, "braggin' rights!" The fun, festivities and food generated much-needed proceeds for Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats and Good Samaritan Pet Adoption Center. These two non-profit animal rescue groups split the proceeds so they can continue sheltering and taking care of the medical expenses for abandoned and homeless furry friends until they are adopted into their forever, loving homes. Thank you to everyone who helped at and attended this event . . . and for your generous donations to these two wonderful organizations! Also, a special thanks goes to Dave Lowe, who has owned The Retreat Grill and Sports Tavern, a fabulous establishment, for 32 years, and his staff who were hosts and hostesses for the event. The Retreat Grill and Sports Tavern is located at the southeast corner of Evans and Colorado Blvd. in Denver (2186 South Colorado Blvd.; 303-756-1869). Stop in sometime for a yummy meal, a cold beer and maybe a game of darts!
A BIG muchas gracias to all of the fundraiser’s organizers, volunteers, The Retreat Grill and Sports Tavern employees, chili cooks and guests who made this a successful fiesta! What a wonderful gift to the animals.
